INITIO CORP. ACQUIRES CONNECTCOM'S SCSI, FIREWIRE ASSETS Adding Complementary I/O Product Line Expands Initio's Worldwide OEM, Distribution Presence With the acquisition of these key SCSI and FireWire assets, Initio is expanding its business through a significantly broader product line, a doubling of revenues and employee growth of nearly 25 percent. Additionally, the acquisition extends Initio's worldwide customer base, which now features such industry leaders as Hewlett-Packard, NEC, Polaroid, QPS and SGI, as well as distribution in Europe. Initio will assume all assets of ConnectCom's AdvanSys product division -- SCSI and FireWire host bus adapters and related software -- resulting in an unprecedented array of I/O solutions. These host-side products complement Initio's silicon- and board-level SCSI and FireWire products designed into computer systems and peripherals to speed data flow in networking, digital video and other I/O-intensive applications. "Initio and ConnectCom each have grown to become highly respected innovators of I/O products for computer-system makers, peripheral manufacturers and resellers worldwide," said Kenneth Wu, CEO at Initio. "By joining the two companies' complimentary SCSI and FireWire product lines, customers and distribution partners, we're creating a seamless blend of technology, as well as a single source of advanced I/O solutions for a wide array of applications."
