INITIO COMPLETES VERIFICATION OF INIC-2430 SINGLE-CHIP FIREWIRE800 BRIDGING DEVICE IN Mac OS X 10.3 Panther

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Nov. 7, 2003 – Initio Corp., a leading maker of input/output (I/O) solutions for storage systems and peripherals, today announced it has completed work verifying the Initio® INIC™-2430 single-chip FireWire800 bridging device functions with Apple Computer’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) new Mac OS X 10.3 Panther version of the Macintosh® operating system (Mac OS®).  Initio has extensively tested the INIC-2430 and have found that FireWire800 drives equipped with the INIC-2430 have not experienced any data corruption issues.

“Initio has been testing the INIC-2430 with numerous Apple platforms and we have not seen any data corruption in our extensive testing,” said Eric Wilson, vice president of business development at Initio.  “This verification effort will help assure full performance and functionality in Mac OS X 10.3 Panther that are enabled with INIC-2430 and maintain Initio’s continuity in fully supporting the Mac OS.”

The INIC-2430 is one of the fastest FireWire800 solutions on the market today, and provides data rates essential to next-generation drives used in high-end applications, such as audio/video (A/V) editing.  Storage solutions based on the INIC-2430 realize full FireWire800 and ATA-7 speeds (800Mbit/s and 133MB/s, respectively), as well as dual-channel RAID 0,1 support, which is critical for A/V applications.  Several manufacturers are completing a multitude of designs based on the INIC-2430 and will be announcing their products in the near future.

Initio welcomes inquiries from the public on the INIC-2430 FireWire800 chip’s speed, features and reliability in Panther.  The public is encouraged to contact Wilson at sales@initio.com.
