1430 under OS X.3.6 issue: Firewire devices, mostly hard drives no longer mount to the desktop after updating to OS X.3.6. The fix is to update the firmware on the INIC-1430 bridge board. You must do this from an earlier version of Mac OS X, or from a PC machine.
If when you click on the OS X links below you just get a screen full of garbage characters, press and hold the Control key and click on the link, then Save the Linked File to the Desktop.
We have posted the following to assist you in doing this upgrade.
Updater application and Firmware file for OS X (hold control key and click, save as) Use this if you currently have firmware v4.66 or v4.67.
